Update, May 3: The firefighters were injured when they were thrown back by an explosion, Rios said. Two had minor back injuries, and one had a twisted knee. They were treated and released from the hospital.

Update, 6:40 p.m.: The roadway is back open, according to CPD.

Update, 1:40 p.m.: Three Clarksville Fire Rescue firefighters had minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Units from Stations 1, 8 and 3 responded, and off-duty personnel were called in to assist, according to Assistant Chief Michael Rios. CPD, THP, and MCEMS Medic 28, 41, and EMS District 2 also responded.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A fire at the Wheel Shop had Wilma Rudolph Boulevard shut down in both directions Sunday afternoon.

Clarksville Police were conducting traffic control for Clarksville Fire Rescue at the store, 1655 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. The fire was reported at approximately 11:32 a.m., and CFR had to run the fire hoses across Wilma Rudolph.

The highway was closed between Old Trenton Road and Summit Drive. No lanes were open, and motorists were advised to find an alternate route.

At 12:30 p.m., northbound traffic was backed up almost to College Street.
