Update, 7:25 a.m.: Clarksville Gas and Water has contained the leak, and the roadway is back open.
An employee of one of the hotels near the clinic said they saw someone driving behind the clinic around midnight, and right after they left the area, the employee heard a hissing noise.
Anyone with information or additional video footage is asked to contact Clarksville Police.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Police have shut down Alfred Thun Road over a natural gas leak behind the Gateway Vanderbilt Radiation Clinic.
At about 6:10 a.m. today, someone reported a loud hissing noise and a strong odor of rotten eggs coming from behind the clinic at 375 Alfred Thun Road, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.
CPD and Clarksville Fire Rescue are on the scene along with Clarksville Gas and Water. Until they can repair the gas line or turn it off, no traffic will be allowed down Alfred Thun, between the entrance to Sam’s Club and Hutson Inc (John Deere).
Police are asking the public to avoid the area. Anyone needing to travel down Alfred Thun from Wilma Rudolph Boulevard will need to find an alternate route until the scene is cleared.
