Update, 1 p.m.: The Bypass is back open.

The driver of the car was transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville and then taken by LifeFlight helicopter to a hospital in Nashville, where he was listed in critical condition.

Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene to assist Fatal Accident Crash Team investigators because the crash involved a semi tractor-trailer.

No further information has been released.

Update, 11:45 a.m.: The Bypass remains shut down, with traffic backed up between Vista Lane and Beacon Drive.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The US 41A Bypass was shut down by a wreck Friday morning.

At about 9:34 a.m., a car and a semi tractor-trailer crashed on the Bypass at Queens Bluff Way, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.

The Bypass was shut down and traffic was being diverted at Vista Lane and Old Ashland City Road.

“CPD is asking the public to find alternate routes until the roadway can be cleared,” Beaubien said.

At 10:15 a.m., traffic was backed up between Glendale Drive and Beacon Drive.

No information was available yet on injuries.
