Update, 7:10 p.m.: The second passenger has been extricated and is en route to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by LifeFlight helicopter, according to Montgomery County Fire Service Chief Michael Rios.

“It was a challenging extrication. It took two hours to extricate one female pinned between her seat and the ground,” Rios told Clarksville Now. “It was a joint effort between Montgomery County Fire, Clarksville Fire Rescue, Montgomery County EMS, Vanderbilt LifeFlight, MCSO, THP and West Nashville Wrecker Service.”

Update, 6:35 p.m.: Dixie Bee Road will remain shut down for the next couple of hours while the road is cleared, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Bishop Delaney.

No other vehicles were involved. One person was being flown to a hospital with serious injuries. Also, a woman was being extricated from the vehicle, but she did not appear to have major injuries, Delaney said.

The crash is being investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A tractor-trailer veered off of Interstate 24 and crashed down an embankment Saturday afternoon.

At about 4:30 p.m., emergency responders were called to the scene near mile marker 15 westbound, according to Clarksville Now news partner Dash 10 Media. At 5:45, crews were working to extricate the driver from the cabin. Air Evac had landed and was waiting to fly him to a Nashville hospital.

Traffic on Interstate 24 was not affected.
