Clarksville, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Steel Mags, a local extension of the national Green Beret Foundation, will host a collection drive  June 22. Items donated will support YAIPak, a local non-profit supporting homeless veterans. Part of their “Totes for Hope” program the drive will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Donations can be dropped off at 1715 Fort Campbell Blvd.

YAIPak offers guidance and support to homeless veterans, accessing the resources they need. “Totes for Hope” provides formerly homeless veterans with 55-gallon totes full of household items. The program allows for a fresh start in their new homes. Each tote relieves a $500-1000 burden from their shoulders.

The YAI in YAIPak stands for “You Are Important.” When asked about the name, Sherry Nicholson explained it’s, “The message we want to leave our veterans with, that they are important, and they are not forgotten.”

Volunteers are still needed for help with the donation drive and to pack totes. For more information on the drive or on YAIPak, check out the Facebook event page and YAIPak website.
