A Tornado Watch is issued by the National Weather Service when tornadoes are possible in and close to the watch area.
It also means conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop. It does not mean that a tornado will happen, it only means they are possible.
A line of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms is expected to race across Middle Tennessee from Monday evening into early Tuesday morning. Storms within the line will be capable of producing damaging winds and a few tornadoes. Locally heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding will also be possible in a few areas.
Wind gusts in the Clarksville area are expected to be as high as 20 mph with up to 2 inches of rainfall.
