CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Tommy Vallejos has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Tennessee state representative, District 67.

Vallejos said he has served his country and community for nearly 40 years: as a 21-year veteran in the US Army Infantry; as a county commissioner; as a pastor; and as a gang awareness teacher and mentor. Vallejos served eight years as a county commissioner, with seven years on the Budget Committee. Through his eight years, he has served on various Montgomery County committees.

He has been married to his wife Caroline for over 39 years, and they are the parents of four children, with seven grandchildren. With a daughter in-law and a grandson working as teachers, and six grandchildren in the school system, he said he is vested in CMCSS. Vallejos said he will fight for safer schools, parent rights and to ensure students are given the proper resources to learn.

Vallejos said he is a champion of policies that promote job growth and invigorate the state economy. He said he will fight for limited government, for cutting the red tape on small businesses and employers, and for protecting Tennessee’s status as a right-to-work state.

He said he is committed to ensuring solid infrastructure within District 67, including much needed relief across Clarksville to complete long overdue road projects.

“With over 9,000 Clarksville citizens commuting to Nashville daily, it is long overdue for a third lane on both west and eastbound lanes of I-24,” Vallejos said. “The remaining seven miles of the 374 loop need to be completed to relief congestion in North Clarksville. It is time for the state to partner with the city to build the North-South Connector for even more relief.”

District 67, recently redrawn, covers the middle section of Clarksville, from the Kentucky state line to the Cumberland River.
