KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will announce the roll out of vertical driver licenses and identification cards for people under 21 years old on Monday, July 2.
Officials say the new vertical licenses will make it easier to identify people under the age of 21.
After turning 21-years-old, any licensee may obtain a horizontal printed license or ID.
The original legislation was sponsored by State Senator Becky Massey and Rep. Bill Dunn of Knoxville to crack down on underage drinking.
The announcement will occur at a ceremony at Calhoun’s On The River in Knoxville Monday.
