NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee Titans will host the 4th annual Tennessee Titans Regional Spelling Bee at Nissan Stadium (West Club) on Saturday, February 16. Doors open at 11 a.m. with the competition slated to begin at noon.

Forty-nine qualifying elementary and middle school students will participate in the regional competition, with the top two spellers earning an all-expense paid trip to the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May.

In 2015, the Titans became the first professional sports franchise to sponsor and host a regional spelling bee. Without a sponsor, local students have no way to advance to the national competition.

More than 128 schools representing 26 counties in west and middle Tennessee registered to participate in this year’s bee program.

To qualify for the regional bee, students must win their school spelling bee and score in the top 50 of an online, semi-final spelling and vocabulary test, created by Scripps and administered by school spelling bee coordinators.
