NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have selected Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota with the No. 2 draft pick overall, the third QB the franchise has taken in the past decade.
The Titans started three different quarterbacks last season benching Jake Locker in October for rookie Zach Mettenberger. But he lost his six starts, and the Titans couldn’t afford to pass up Mariota with Charlie Whitehurst the only other quarterback on the roster.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt says a quarterback picked at No. 2 would be expected to start. And the coach known for pocket passers like Ben Roethlisberger and Kurt Warner even says he’ll incorporate some spread plays into his offense.
