NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans firmly believe they will have a better season than last year. In 2014, they finished tied for last place in the league with a 2-14 record.
While the team believes things will improve, Peter King of Sports Illustrated disagrees. The popular sports writer predicted the Titans to finish in last place with another 2-14 record.
“What do you expect?” head coach Ken Whisenhunt responded when asked about the prediction Tuesday. “I mean, you expect us to be first? No. We’ve got to prove to our fans and to a lot of people that we can be a better football team than we were.”
Left tackle Taylor Lewan put a positive spin on the prediction.
“So we’re top 32 in the world, that’s pretty good,” he says. “I’m not going to listen to any preseason stuff. This is my second year you know? Why would you buy into any of that stuff. I think this team is going to do a lot better than 32nd. We’ll see where it goes from there.”
So, what was King’s explanation for his prediction? He wrote, “ I love the Marcus Mariota pick. I don’t love the supporting cast, and he’s not a guy who’s going to be great day one. Or day 24.”
