NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans dropped their sixth in a row losing 20-6 Sunday in Houston.

Still searching for their first AFC South win of the year the Titans took a 3-0 lead on a 35 yard field goal by Ryan Succop in the first quarter, but after that they struggled to put any kind of offensive consistency together, according to WKRN News 2.

The Texans took a 7-3 lead in the second quarter when Brian Hoyer hit DeAndre Hopkins for a 21 yard touchdown.

Bishop Sankey fumbled the ensuing kickoff handing the Texans the ball on the Titans 24. The defense held the Texans to a 38 yard Nick Novack field goal making it a 10-3 game at the half.

In the second half, Hoyer found former Titan Nate Washington for a 45 yard touchdown to put the game away.

They did rush 20 times for 86 yards, but through the air it was a disaster. In his second start of the season Zach Mettenberger was sacked seven times and turned it over twice with an interception and a fumble. Mettenberger finished 22 of 31 for 171 yards, but was only able to put 6 points on the board.

The Titans offensive line was completely unable to handle Whitney Mercilus and All-Pro JJ Watt. Mercilus finished the game with 3.5 sacks, while Watt tacked on 2.5 more.

It was a solid performance from the Titans’ defense in defeat. They gave up only 270 yards for the game, only 56 of it on the ground.

It is the Titans 16th loss in their last 17 games and drops them to 1-6, last in the AFC South.

The Titans visit the New Orleans Saints next Sunday.
