CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Officers of the Clarksville Police Department were at O’Charley’s on Riverside Drive, Wednesday, December 18, to speak with citizens and collect money for the Special Olympics at their second annual Tip-a-Cop.
At Tip-a-Cop, officers help to serve dinner guests while taking public comments and discussing the mission of Special Olympics Tennessee.
“For the last 40 years, law enforcement have been the guardian of our flame for special Olympics, and they have carried the flame of hope into local, state and provincial Special Olympics events,” said Amy Parker, VP of Marketing and Development for Special Olympics Tennessee.
CPD officers will also be participating in the Clarksville Polar Plunge, which will be held at APSU’s Foy Center on February 2, 2020. At the event, participants will jump into the freezing cold Austin Peay Foy Pool to raise pledges for Special Olympics.
“Clarksville Police Department have been an amazing support system for Special Olympics, and they have this past year been responsible for raising almost $20,000 for the Special Olympics,” said Parker
Special Olympics Tennessee offers training and opportunities to compete in 32 Olympic Style Sports, encouraging young athletes to strive for their best if a fun, safe environment. The organization hosts over 100 sporting events each year at local, regional and state levels.
