CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – WKRN News 2 learned Thursday a total of nine MAPCO gas stations were affected by a recent diesel fuel contamination.
In addition to the Wilma Rudolph Blvd. MAPCO location, the gas station at 1500 Tiny Town Rd. has also been affected.
Tests by the state Department of Agriculture showed the unleaded pumps contained diesel fuel after customers at multiple locations filed complaints.
Pumps are up and running again at the Wilma Rudolph Blvd. location as of Thursday morning, according to store employees.
MAPCO says the company will pay for any damage and will not face any fines because they shut the pumps off as soon as they knew there was a problem.
The full list of locations includes:
3043 Nolensville Road, Nashville
8631 Hwy 25 East, Cross Plains
240 Hwy 109 N. at I-40, Lebanon
2406 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville
3900 Lebanon Road, Hermitage
883 Hartsville Pike, Gallatin
1501 Murfreesboro Rd., Franklin
2099 Wilma Rudolph Blvd., Clarksville
1500 Tiny Town Road, Clarksville
The company stresses not every MAPCO was affected, and they voluntarily shut down their pumps upon learning of the incident.
“MAPCO is working closely with TDA and conducting it’s own internal investigation to determine what went wrong,” they told News 2 said Thursday. “It’s important to note that contamination like this will most likely affect your vehicle IMMEDIATELY after fueling.”
MAPCO says customers should call 1-855-469-6272 to file a complaint with them.
The state is also asking anyone concerned with their fuel quality file a formal complaint with them at 1-800-OCTANE1.
