ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – The man accused of raping and murdering a 7-year-old girl during a little league football game in Scottsville, Ky. has pleaded not guilty, according to WKRN News 2.
Timothy Madden, 38, appeared in Allen County Circuit Court Wednesday for an arraignment.
His attorney, Travis Lock, entered the not guilty plea on Madden’s behalf.
Madden was indicted on Dec. 11, 2015 by a special grand jury on charges of kidnapping, sodomy, rape and murder in the death of 7-year-old Gabbi Doolin.

Doolin’s parents were present for the arraignment, along with about 30 other family members, friends and supporters.
Madden’s immediate family members were also in the courtroom, including his wife, mother and father-in-law.
The judge in the case set a July 13 date for the next court hearing, which will be a pre-trial conference.
Investigators have said they have DNA evidence against Madden.
He was initially scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 2, 2015 but it was postponed after Madden’s attorney said he received new lab reports just a short time before the hearing was set to begin.
Nine days after that hearing, Madden was indicted so the case was moved to circuit court.
Doolin’s body was discovered on the evening of Nov. 14, 2015 in a small stream of water in a wooded area behind the football stadium at Allen County-Scottsville High School.
Investigators said the little girl was strangled and drowned.
The crime happened on a Saturday night and Madden was arrested the following Friday, one day after Doolin’s funeral.
Madden, a former construction worker and father of five, has maintained his innocence since his arrest and previously pleaded not guilty to the charges in Allen County District Court.
Wednesday, Madden’s attorney told News 2 he obtained a video that shows Madden at a convenience store before the alleged crime was committed and was still waiting to view a separate video potentially showing his client after the alleged crime.
Since his case could qualify for the death penalty, Madden is being held without bond in the Barren County Jail, about 30 miles away from Scottsville, Ky.
According to his attorney, he has one cellmate and their cell is equipped with a television.
As of Wednesday, the state had not announced if it will seek the death penalty, and Madden’s attorney had not filed a motion for change of venue.
