CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Tickets are still available for the 5th Annual Tickle Me Pink Luncheon.

The fundraising event will be held Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Wilma Rudolph Events Center to support the local After Breast Cancer(ABC) program.

The Clarksville Area YMCA hosts the ABC program and all the proceeds from Tickle Me Pink support it. This is a free 16-week program that provides personal training and healing resources for local women during or after breast cancer.

Amanda Cherry with the YMCA said ABC is funded partially by donors and sponsors, but that the Tickle Me Pink Luncheon plays a pivotal role in fundraising. “It really makes or breaks the ABC budget every year,” she said.

Doors open at 11 a.m. for shopping with vendors at the event, and lunch will be served at noon while guests enjoy fellowship.

Annie F. Downs will be the featured guest speaker. Downs has published four books, with one more in the works. She was named one of the 5 Female Authors to Watch in 2014 and she is bringing her message of “Let’s All Be Brave” to the luncheon this year.

Cherry said although the event touches on the serious nature of breast cancer and the ABC program, this particular event is geared toward having fun. “Everyone is going to have a smile on their face when they leave,” she said. “It’s a break in the middle of the day for the ladies to come, do some shopping, and have lunch with their friends.”

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the YMCA at 260 Hillcrest Dr, or by contacting Amanda Cherry at 931-647-2376 or acherry@ymcamidtn.org.
