Update, 9:39 a.m.: A strong thunderstorm is expected in northwestern Montgomery, southeastern Stewart and northwestern Houston counties through 10 a.m.

At 9:37 a.m., Doppler radar was tracking a the storm 7 miles east of Big Rock, or 11 miles southwest of Fort Campbell, moving northeast at 55 mph, according to the NWS. There’s a risk of winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.

“Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible,” the NWS said.

Locations impacted include Clarksville, Dover, Tennessee Ridge, Cumberland City, Indian Mound and Woodlawn. This includes Interstate 24 between mile markers 1 and 6.

“Brief heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to minor localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways,” the NWS said.

“Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A cold front moving across Middle Tennesse could being severe thunderstorms to Clarksville today.

Gusty winds over 35 mph are possible as the storms approach in the morning, then again as a cold front passes late in the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Much colder air will move in Friday. The high will drop from 64 today to 38 on Friday, with a low of 26 Friday night.
