CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Middle Tennessee is in for some severe storms over the next few days. The biggest risk will be south of Clarksville, but we should see heavy rain and strong winds.
The air mass across Middle Tennessee will become increasingly unstable through Wednesday afternoon. As a cold front moves our way, from about 6-9 p.m., there is a risk of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes all possible. Up to 1 inch rain is expected in Clarksville.
Tonight`s cold front will begin lifting back to the north as a warm front on Thursday. Dynamics will ramp up with additional heavy rainfall possible during the day. In Montgomery County, another 1-2 inches of rain is possible, starting around 3 p.m.
The final chance of severe storms will occur early Friday morning as the front moves through. Isolated tornadoes, damaging winds and hail will all be possible across the entire mid state, starting around 6 a.m. in Clarksville.
Look for wind advisories Thursday night and Friday. Gusts of 40 mph-plus are looking more and more likely, particularly Friday afternoon.
