CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Today’s storm was short, but not very sweet. Wind gusts of 40mph, with some reaching upwards of 60 to 70mph, tore through Montgomery County Saturday afternoon.
Power is out across the county, with both CDE and CEMC crews working diligently to restore power.
“We currently have over 32,000 outages due to the recent storm,” said Lindsay Pease, CDE spokesperson. “We have crews and engineers working to assess all the damages to get power turned back on as quickly and safely as possible. Downed trees, broken poles, and downed wires are our biggest issues currently.”
Some streets and roadways are blocked, with the multitude of downed trees and powerlines presenting multiple hazards. Madison Street, from University Avenue to Pageant Lane, had several trees across the road and police had blocked the street.
