FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – A Military Construction (MILCON) program begun in Fiscal Year 2010 to replace aging Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools, will close Jackson, Lincoln and Barkley Elementary schools at Fort Campbell, Ky., at the end of this 2015-2016 school year.

“Two new schools will open their doors at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year and will incorporate the new DoDEA 21st Century Design specifications, providing there are no Military Construction (MILCON) funding issues,” said Dr. Frank Calvano, Kentucky District Superintendent. “The schools are the replacement Marshall Elementary School that was built on the previous site and a new Barkley Elementary School.”

The closing of the three schools and opening of the two new schools will result in some redistricting of students and therefore, changes in bus routes. Parents and sponsors will be provided with school assignments and detailed school bus routes and schedules in the spring of 2016.

Students who will change schools or attend the new schools will be offered an invitation to attend open houses at their assigned schools. Dates for the open houses will also be announced in the spring.
