CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The school bus crash Tuesday afternoon in northeast Montgomery County was caused when another driver tried to take an improper left turn, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
At about 3:45 p.m., the vehicles crashed head-on on Rossview Road at Guthrie Road, according to the THP preliminary report, released Thursday.
An non-involved vehicle going eastbound was waiting to take a left turn from Rossview onto Guthrie. A 41-year-old Mississippi man driving a 2010 GMC Denali, also going eastbound, tried to take the left before the other vehicle, the report said. He crashed head-on into the oncoming westbound school bus. Both vehicles came to a rest off the shoulder of Rossview Road.
The GMC driver was injured. He is being charged with driving on a suspended license and failure to exercise due care, the report said.
The bus driver and bus aide were not injured, the report said. No students were on board, Clarksville-Montgomery County School System spokesman Anthony Johnson told Clarksville Now.
