CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Several students from around the district were recognized for their leadership, educational, and extracurricular achievements at Tuesday night’s CMCSS Formal Board Meeting.

The highlight of the evening was a very special and unique award to Kimberly Bellamy and her golden retrievers, Charlie, Skiff, and Penny.

In a partnership with the Pet Partners animal therapy program, these golden retrievers have visited CMCSS schools over 140 times, offering more than 200 hours of their services to students throughout the district.

At the High School level, the district recognized several music students for being named to the All-State musical performance. Those students recognized are as follows:

  • RHS Jed Edmonson: 9/10 TMEA All-State Band
  • RHS Hunter Keeran: 11/12 TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra
  • CHS Kinsey Overdeer: 11/12 TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra
  • NHS Logan Stewart: 11/12 TMEA All-State Men’s Choir

Several Middle Schoolers were also recognized with Point of Pride awards for their successes at the West Tennessee FLL Championship at the University of Memphis.

DevolBergers Robotics (Multiple Schools), recognized for their big win at the FIRST LEGO League Regional Competition, in which they advanced to the World Competition in Houston, Texas.

The Tournament Grand Champions are students from both Rossview and Richview elementary schools who decided to form their own team to continue working with the same team as they did when they began at Moore Magnet Elementary School. Those students recognized are as follows:

  • Ryan Bellamy, 8th Grade, RMS
  • Katelyn Mann, 8th Grade, RMS
  • Charlie Olita, 8th Grade, RMS
  • Nate Smith, 8th Grade, RoMS
  • Gavin Weddington, RoMS
  • Ashton Weddington (Student Mentor & Assistant Coach), Middle College
Rossview Middle’s Hawkbotics, recognized for their outstanding teamwork skills at the FIRST LEGO League competition in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Rossview Middle School Hawkbotics team was also recognized for receiving the 2nd Place Inspiration award in the Core Values section of the competition. This award recognizes their strengths and ability to work as a team to solve a given problem and is held in high regard by the organization. Those students recognized are as follows:

In third place, Northeast Middle’s SPARK team of Madison Potts, Nevaeh Schmeling, Jordan Bowser, Lauren Lee, Autumn Minix, and Aidan Lancaster were also recognized.
