EVENTS:

SMOKE: A Ballad of the Night Riders, A Bluegrass Musical by David Alford

Until recent years, not much had been uttered of the ugliness, hate and violence that turned farmer against farmer and brother against brother during the tobacco wars of the early 1900s. Those who grew dark-fired tobacco in the Black Patch Capital of the World and lived in Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee knew it all too well. Take a gut-wrenching, emotional ride with the Hartley family and see first-hand their trials and tribulations, the effect the tobacco company played in their struggle to survive, and the backlash that ultimately led to the birth of the masked vigilantes known as The Night Riders. You will be riveted watching their story is it is told through the talented equity and local actors in a bluegrass-style musical.

SPIRIT: The Authentic Bell Witch Experience by David Alford

Each Fall since 2002, David Alford’s play has been produced on the grounds of the Bell School in Adams, the very land settled by John Bell where the hauntings took place. As you sit on these grounds, Spirit will take you on an eerie journey involving moving objects and pinching, slapping and tormenting family members culminating in John Bell’s mysterious death in 1820.

Six outdoor performances are Oct. 18, 19, 20 and Oct. 25, 26, 27 at 7 p.m. Ticket info available here.
