CLARKSVILLE, TN – Our community-wide celebration of “The Road to 250,” America’s 250th birthday, is about to renew the telling of our nation’s history in a series of dramatic, thematic readings.

Dr. Cate LiaBraaten of the APSU Department of History and Philosophy will guide us through the complex history of the difficulties our diverse population had to overcome in order to secure the rights our Founding Fathers promised to all “men” and build successful lives and communities. Along the way, Dr. LiaBraaten will address gender and racial issues during key epochs such as Reconstruction, rapid industrialization, the huge influx of immigrants and the expansion of American territory.

This performance titled “American Society” will be the 10th in the 12-part series and will take place on the Mabry Stage at APSU on Feb. 11 at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Refreshments will follow.
