What once was a bustling industrial press room where workers printed thousands of copies of The Leaf-Chronicle newspaper is now a contemporary work space where entrepreneurs, students and small business owners gather to innovate, create and collaborate.

The Press, named as an homage to its history, is Clarksville’s premier co-working office, offering local small business owners, artists, students, virtual learners and anyone who needs work space the necessary resources to grow. All of it happens next to the existing offices of The Leaf-Chronicle, where they continue to operate on the second floor.

The soft launch, which has offered limited office spaces and memberships, is close to capacity. The full co-working space is set to open later this year.

The modern, sleek, industrial space provides community members a unique space and substantial resources such as their Podcast Room, Art Studio, Event Space, Common Areas, Break Rooms, Shared Conference/Meeting Space, and Offices.

Amenities such as modern technology, secure Wi-Fi, 24/7 controlled access, phone and printer access, event space rental, conference rooms and a coffee and espresso bar provided by Starbucks Café are available with membership.

Memberships range from student use to private offices and can be reserved on their website.

They are currently offering a scholarship opportunity for applicants who want to start  a business or who’ve owned  a business for less than a year in Clarksville.

The scholarship recipient will be assisted in starting their business and will receive guidance, marketing support, legal information, business operations, and financial resources.

Creation of The Press

The Press began as an idea by Leo Millan amid the successes and failures from his own company, Millan Enterprises.

Although the plans were not set in motion until years later, his persistent goal was to support entrepreneurs and small business owners of the local community, similar to the way he was supported by those who took chances on him.

Millan Enterprises acquired the Leaf-Chronicle Building several years ago knowing its past and future importance to the community. Housed in the former press room of the Leaf-Chronicle newspaper, The Press pays homage to the foundation of hard work and creativity of the people who once worked there.

To finally carry out the idea of a modern co-working space, a team of passionate leaders was formed to design the layout, market its resources, and develop vital software in order for the business community of Clarksville to be able to innovate, create, and collaborate.

The Press partners with community businesses such as CDE Lightband, APSU College of Business, Tennessee Small Business Development Center, Starbucks, and more.

The Press is located at 200 Commerce St., Suite 200-x in downtown Clarksville, TN 37040.
