CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Elementary school students from Clarksville-Montgomery County schools came together Tuesday, May 6 for The Great STEM Challenge Exposition. The students along with their projects were featured at the event at the Memorial Health Center (Red Barn) at Austin Peay State University.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and the students STEM projects were reviewed by a group of APSU STEM faculty community STEM professionals. There were 64 separate projects from 3rd through 5th Grade students from all of the 23 elementary schools in the system.
Dr. Martha McIlveene , Director of the Austin Peay Jack Hunt STEM Center talked about the exposition. “We have a chance for the students to talk to professional reviewers from Clarksville. There are 17 professional reviewers here and they will have questions to talk about and all of the questions are based on 21st Century skills,” said McIlveene.
