CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – “The Complete History of America (Abridged)” opened Friday night at Clarksville’s Downtown Commons with dozens in attendance for the return of live theatre to downtown Clarksville.
The play, written by the Reduced Shakespeare Company and directed by Art Conn, takes a lightning-fast look at the highlights of American history through Vaudeville bits, audience participation and pop culture parody.

Actors Mary Beth Hawkins, Nicole June and Ethan Moss take the audience of a wild ride from the American colonies through the Cold War filled with song, dance and a high speed chase.
“I’m really excited that everyone showed up to support local theatre. I am super stoked and looking forward to the show,” said producer Sandra Brandon.
“The Complete History of America (Abridged)” has two more shows remaining, one Saturday, July 24, at 7 p.m. and another Sunday, July 25, at 2 p.m. The show is free and open to the public.
Chairs and blankets are welcome, but pets, coolers, smoking or vaping, and outside alcohol will not be allowed on site.
