CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) What’s better on a hot summer day than enjoying some free Kona Ice shaved ice? Families, children, and officers with the Clarksville Police Department all came out to participate in ‘Kona with a Cop’ Wednesday.
The Police Department presented Kona with a Cop at three different apartment complexes in the city, Cumberland Ridge, Ashford Place and Paddock Place.
Clarksville Now caught up with the officers at Ashford Place Apartments on Memorial Drive as both children and adults cooled off with free snow cones of their favorite flavor and learned more about what the police do to serve the community.
Officer Samantha Kellett with the Community Relations Unit talked about the event. “In an attempt to bridge the gap between citizens and police, we have started an event called Kona with a Cop. Kona Ice of Clarksvile has graciously donated snow cones to individuals that come out to our events. So they get to hang out with us, they get free snow cones, get to play in the cars, they get lights, sirens, and badges, it’s been a great event,” said Kellett.
Kellett added that after visiting the three locations in Clarksville close to 280 people stopped by for a free snow cone and to hang out with the officers.
There are more events, and free snow cones, coming soon. Join them Friday, July 12 at Independence Place from 2:30-3:15 p.m., The Villages at Peachers Mill 3:45-4:30 p.m., and Avondale Park Apartments 5-5:45 p.m.
