CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – If you’re ready to taste what goes well with Tennessee craft beers, then you’re ready for Tennessee Valley Brewing Company.

Eric Brannstrom and his wife Wendy are co-owners of the brewery that has been open for more than four years in Clarksville. Eric is an Army veteran who served three years in the military, initially at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, then Fort Benning in Georgia for jump school, and finally at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Eric Brannstrom said they brew a lot of different styles at Tennessee Valley and keep a variety on the board.

“There are folks who like amber-style beers, stouts, light lagers, things of that nature, so I try to hit as many of the areas as possible, so I am not just focusing on one type of customer,” Brannstrom said.

Parings and parties

Tennessee Valley hosts a number of events including R-Rated Trivia on Tuesdays, and one Saturday a month they offer a live comedy night. They hold hail and farewells, along with fundraisers for local nonprofits.

They will soon be holding their fourth annual Halloween Candy Pairing with beer. “That’s where I gather up as much candy as I possibly can, and I start sampling candy along with my beer. Then I decide what candy goes best with what beer,” Brannstrom said.

TVBC also has food pairings events, and they partner with local caterers for special events. They have space for parties and gatherings.

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, they have “Friendsgiving,” featuring a giant potluck, and for Christmas there’s an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.

Friends and family

“It’s very nice to have that kind of camaraderie for people to just come in and enjoy each other’s company, and it’s just a nice way to say thank you to everybody, and just have everybody enjoy the time of year,” Brannstrom said.

He said people tell them all the time they like Tennessee Valley because they’re so welcoming. “When people come by we like to make them feel like they are lifelong friends, even if they just met them.”

Tennessee Valley Brewing Company is at 2088 Lowe’s Drive Suite H, and are open Monday-Thursday 3-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon to midnight, and Sunday noon-8 p.m.
