CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tennessee was recently ranked as the state with the best business climate in Business Facilities Magazine’s (BF) 15th Annual Rankings Report.

Tennessee has become home to several major businesses in 2019. Mitsubishi Motors North America announced in June that it would move its headquarters to Franklin, Tenn, where it joins Nissan Motors North America.

TN-Lightning Source, an on-demand printer and distributor based in La Vergne, recently unveiled plans to open its fifth U.S. facility in Jackson, Tenn, where it will invest $22 million over the next three years.

Clarksville plays a role in Tennessee’s success as well, welcoming companies like Atlas BX, Google, Hankook and LG in recent years.

Tennessee also ranked third in workforce training leaders, fourth in automotive manufacturing strength and fifth in FTZ activity (imports).

With its top ranking, Tennessee is a candidate for this year’s Business Facilities’ State of the Year Award. Among the top contenders are Texas, Virginia, and Alabama. Tennessee has won this award three times since its inception in 2007.

“An exceptional business climate is a prerequisite for our State of the Year honor,” said Jack Rodgers, BF Editor in Chief. “Tennessee always sets the bar high in meeting all of the priorities of businesses evaluating locations in the Volunteer State, whether it’s customized workforce training, pre-certified sites or lower industrial electricity costs.”

Governor Bill Lee has praised Tennessee for its pro-business environment on several occasions, citing the state’s focus on workforce development. Tennessee’s workforce continues to grow, with Clarksville being ranked among the top cities to which millennials are moving.

These factors, augmented by Tennessee’s central location nationally, continue to bring industry to the Volunteer State.
