CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Governor Haslam announced the Tennessee Promise Scholarship Act that would allow every high school graduate in Tennessee the opportunity to obtain a postsecondary certificate or associate’s degree free of tuition and mandatory fees.

Along with this scholarship, each student is required to work with a mentor to assist in eliminating the barriers to college access. Here in Clarksville-Montgomery County, we will continue working with tnAchieves as our partnering organization to the Tennessee Promise.

In the first year alone, more than 58,000 students applied and were accepted into the program and 1,592 were from Montgomery County. TnAchieves anticipates continued growth and are in need of 9,100 mentors statewide, and more than 300 mentors in Montgomery County alone.

Please be a tnAchieves mentor and consider giving up one hour of your time, each month, to work with Clarksville-Montgomery County high school students as they continue their education. In just this small amount a time, you can make a significant impact in the lives of our students.

Deadline is November 20 to sign up as a mentor. Sign up and choose which high school works best for you. .
