NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The the bluetick coonhound has been designated as the official state dog of Tennessee.

The bill was signed into law this week by Governor Bill Lee.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), blueticks are nocturnal hunters named for their mottled black-and-blue coat.

“They crave affection and are deeply devoted to those who provide it,” AKC says.
