NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN)  – A Tennessee man wanted for rape of a child has been arrested in Alabama. 33-year-old Simon Dean Porter, of Lawrenceburg, who was recently added to TBI’s Most Wanted list was arrested just before 11 Sunday morning walking down Highway 79 in Scottsboro, Alabama, according to police.

Det. Lt. Zackie Gant of the Scottsboro Police Department told News 2 that it was a citizen tip that led to Porter’s arrest.

Gant said the caller stated that they were “99-percent sure” it was Simon Porter they had seen walking nearby.

Officers responding to the area, a rural road at the base of Skyline Mountain, found Porter walking with bags in his hands.

Police said he was taken into custody without incident and held at the city jail until Lawrenceburg police arrived.

Porter is now on his way back to Tennessee to face charges of child rape involving a 16-month-old boy.
