CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts has announce the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) is making available $200 stipends to Tennessee K-12 educators seeking to participate in the Tennessee Jump$tart Personal Financial Education Conference in Gatlinburg at the Park Vista Hotel June 7-9. The stipends will be made available by Tennessee Jump$tart to the first 150 K-12 educators who register and pay for the conference registration by April 30 (note: a grace period is provided for those paying by check).
The $200 stipend checks will be provided by Tennessee Jump$tart at the conclusion of the conference upon successfully attending the entire conference. As in previous years, the 2017 conference gives teachers an opportunity to gain the credentials necessary to teach the high school personal finance course as well as to stay current in financial literacy by obtaining current content and curriculum related to personal finance. Tennessee Jump$tart Educator of the Year Awards will also be presented at the conference. The Tennessee Jump$tart Excellence in Financial Education Educator of the Year Awards is a recognition program for outstanding financial educators. Recipient(s) will be selected based on successful accomplishments in innovation/creativity related to teaching personal finance, instructional strategies, content and standards accomplishments, collaborations, and program results.
The awards program has been expanded. Educators may now be conducting financial literacy program in the school or community (teachers, administrators, counselors, after-school sponsors, student organization leaders, financial counselors, community organizers, etc.).
