CLARKSVILLE, TN – Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Dickson and Clarksville, is pleased to announce the appointment of new Vice Presidents, Dr. Levi Mayer and Mr. Corey Choate.

Dr. Levi Mayer joins TCAT as Vice President of Academics and Compliance. Mayer brings a wealth of experience in education and administration to his new role as Vice President. He most recently served as Assistant Dean of Instruction at J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College in Huntsville, Alabama. With a background in academic leadership and a commitment to student success, Dr. Mayer is poised to contribute significantly to TCAT’s mission of providing high-quality, career-focused education to its students. His dedication to innovation and excellence will guide the college towards continued growth and achievement.

Mayer holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in higher education administration, a Master of Science in education with a concentration in workforce development, and a Bachelor of Science in workforce education development, all from Southern Illinois University. Mayer replaces Laura Travis, who was promoted to President of TCAT Dickson and Clarksville in December 2023.

Mr. Corey Choate joined TCAT on February 1, 2024, as Vice President of Operations. He oversees campus operations, facility maintenance, construction, information technology, and public safety at TCAT’s campuses in Montgomery, Dickson, Williamson, and Hickman counties. Choate brings to TCAT a strong background in strategic planning and operations management – serving in higher-education leadership roles at Austin Peay State University and Vanderbilt University, as well as senior management roles in the private sector. Choate’s leadership will be crucial in advancing TCAT’s strategic goals and ensuring the college remains at the forefront of workforce development in the region.

Choate holds a Master of Science in human environmental sciences, a graduate certificate in conflict resolution from the University of Alabama, and undergraduate degrees from Austin Peay State University. Choate replaces Dr. Patrick Davis, Sr., recently appointed Vice President of TCAT Jackson’s new campus currently under construction at BlueOval City.

Vice Presidents Mayer and Choate will work closely with President Travis and the rest of the leadership team to support TCAT’s commitment to student success, workforce development, and community engagement.
