CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A new partnership among Tennessee business and automotive leaders could mean good things for the automotive industries that have been locating and expanding in Clarksville.
Tennessee Chamber of of Commerce and Industry President & CEO Bradley Jackson recently announced a strategic partnership with the Tennessee Automotive Manufacturers Association (TAMA), aimed to increase and enhance services for Tennessee’s automotive manufacturers.
“Tennessee has been ranked the #1 state for automotive manufacturing overall,” Jackson said in an interview with Clarksville Now. “It’s a really important distinction and we’re really glad to have this partnership.”
The automotive industry has grown significantly in Tennessee and especially in Clarksville.
Last month, electric vehicle battery maker Microvast announced plans to build a factory here. Not long after, Hankook announced a major expansion to their Clarksville plant, with plans to double production at the facility.
“Clarksville has had tremendous growth.” Jackson said. “It’s important to make sure that the industry speaks in one voice.”
According to Jackson, the new partnership between the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and TAMA will provide a centralized platform for Tennessee automotive manufacturers to network with one another and address issues facing the industry.
Partnership with the Chamber will also provide increased access to programs like OSHA training, environmental permit compliance and health insurance programs dedicated to manufacturers.
“We thank TAMA for this tremendous partnership and opportunity to enhance automotive manufacturing here in Tennessee. Automotive manufacturing has become a cornerstone of Tennessee’s economy and is absolutely vital to our economic growth and success as a state,” Jackson said.
