CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators (TBCSL) will bring its statewide listening tour to Clarksville. Hosted by Black Clarksville, the Town Hall will take place Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at 303 Fairview Lane.
Black Clarksville will host the event ahead of the possible special legislative session on gun safety. The public invited to share their concerns and solutions on state issues, including the August special session, strengthening public education, affordable housing and legislative overreach on local government.
The Town Hall Series will be led by Tennessee Rep. Ronnie Glynn, D-Clarksville, who represents House District 67. The freshman representative will be joined by several members of the Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators, including Nashville representatives Harold Love Jr., and Vincent Dixie and Memphis representatives Jesse Chism and Knoxville representative and TBCSL Chairman Sam McKenzie. The organization consists of 18 Black state lawmakers who currently serve in the General Assembly and are committed to improving the quality of life for African Americans in the state through policy, advocacy and action.
“Townhalls are a great way for the communities to learn what’s going on with their state government,” said Rep Glynn. “Community engagement is essential to setting policy and building trust with elected officials.”
The statewide tour has already made stops in Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville, with Clarksville being the final stop on the tour.
