CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System will hold information sessions on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. until noon for anyone interested in learning more about becoming a CMCSS teacher by obtaining a temporary teaching permit.
The 30-minute sessions are designed to introduce applicants to the requirements of job-embedded licensure. Applicants can attend at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., or 11:30 a.m.
The information session will be held at Central Services Gracey, 621 Gracey Ave. Representatives from iTeach and Austin Peay State University will be on-site to answer questions and meet prospective applicants. CMCSS Human Resources representatives will be available to answer questions regarding Praxis, out-of-state licensure, and more.
CMCSS continues to explore innovative methods to recruit and retain quality educators. Currently, 70 teachers are working on a temporary permit as they pursue job-embedded licensure. The state of Tennessee opened the option to districts to apply for one-year teaching permits on July 1.
Interested applicants do not have to possess an undergraduate degree in education to meet permit requirements. The applicant’s bachelor’s degree must be from a regionally accredited institution. Permits are not allowed for elementary PE, special education, and any class with an end-of-course assessment such as Biology or US History.
