CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – There was a lot of excitement in the air Saturday, August 1 at the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) and Wyatt Johnson Pass & Go event. It was especially exciting for one young lady, 18-year-old Allison Smith, who will soon be driving a brand new car.
Smith, a 2015 graduate of Clarksville High School, had the lucky key that started the Toyota Yaris in the Wyatt Johnson Mazda dealership showroom. Smith will actually get her choice of a Mazda 2, Hyundai Accent or Hyundai Accent hatchback. She was still overwhelmed with excitement after winning the car and said she had not even though about which car she was going to choose.
The teen was still shaking minutes after winning and talked about what it felt like when the car started.. “It’s definitely amazing, I never expected this to happen. I’m not very good with cars so I thought maybe I did something wrong, I don’t know. Then everyone was jumping up and down and screaming, so it’s like okay, I just won this car,” Smith said.
Along with Wyatt Johnson a number of other local businesses partnered with CMCSS in the Pass & Go event. Premier Medical Group gave away 11 Surface tablets, Beach Oil supplied a number of giveaways and Domino’s Pizza provided free pizza at the event.
Bill Powers, Managing Partner with Wyatt Johnson talked about Wyatt Johnson’s participation in Pass & Go. This is our fourth year and it such a fun event to have. These are our best and brightest kids in the whole county, they’ve studied hard and they deserve the chance to win a car,” said Powers.
Pass & Go started in 2009 as a motivation to get more CMCSS students to take the Advanced Placement classes and pass the exam with a college credit-earning score. This year, over 1,000 students took 1,600 exams with 525 earning a 3, 4 or 5 on their exams making them eligible to participate in Pass & Go and a chance to win a new car from Wyatt Johnson.
