CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville teen’s case has been sent to the grand jury on allegations he stabbed two family members, killing one.
Jacob Lee Carney was 17 years old on May 11 when he allegedly stabbed his grandmother, Mary Carney, 67, to death inside her Ellsworth Drive home. Mary Carney was his biological grandmother, and she had adopted Jacob, according to police.
Carney, 18, also stabbed another relative, who survived the injuries, police said.
Clarksville Police detectives charged Jacob Carney with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $5 million bond.
At the time of his arrest, since he was a juvenile, the domestic relationship between Carney and the victims was not released.
Court paperwork was not available due to this originally being a juvenile case.
Detective Keenan Carlton is the lead investigator.
