CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Local officials and first responders braved the rainy weather and competed in Clarksville Downtown Common’s third annual Broomball Game on Wednesday, January 15.

The first teams to take the ice were Clarksville Police Department and Clarksville Fire Rescue for the inaugural Guns vs. Hoses game. After an intense competition, Clarksville Fire Rescue came out on top with a score 3-2, with Chief Montgomery scoring the final goal. Each of their goals was punctuated by a celebratory siren from one of the department’s fire engines.

Second to play was the Montgomery County 911 Dispatch Office.

Following the dispatchers were County Mayor Jim Durrett and Commanding General Brian E. Winski of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell. Nashville Predators mascot Gnash even joined in on the fun. The General’s team pulled ahead late in the game to secure the win, 1-0, breaking the overall tie between the two.

“It was a really good, fun game, and it’s great to pair up with Montgomery County here and have a little friendly competition. It’s great camaraderie and, you know, winning is pretty nice,” Said General Winski.

Wrapping up the night was a friendly exhibition game with Clarksville Gas & Water, which ended in a score of 5-3.
