CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Rossview High School teacher who came under fire for leaving written notes describing some students as “stupid” and “annoying,” and later referencing those comments on the video platform Twitch, has resigned from the school system.

According to previous reports, biology teacher Vaughn Hart left notes for a substitute teacher on Jan. 16 that included “derogatory language to describe students” by name. A Rossview High School reprimand letter, obtained by Clarksville Now, states Hart referred to certain students as “so annoying” and “so stupid” and wrote, “Jesus God this class sucks!” According to the letter, this was among several complaints regarding professionalism and classroom conduct. As a result, Hart received a reprimand and one-day suspension.

However, while the disciplinary process was still underway, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System received an additional complaint regarding a video on Twitch in which Hart references the substitute notes and complains about the way she was being treated by her supervisor.

“B****, don’t play with me,” Hart says in the video, obtained by Clarksville Now. “Everybody, every teacher has felt that way about students at some point.”

Rossview administration began a new investigation Feb. 10, and Hart was placed on an alternative worksite at her home that same day.

On Feb. 19, Hart was reassigned from Rossview High School to the Adult High School, with the same calendar, salary and benefits, effective Feb. 23, according to documents obtained by Clarksville Now.

On Feb. 20, Hart resigned effective immediately, with her reason for resignation cited as “dissatisfied” and “changing careers/leaving teaching profession.”

Clarksville Now has attempted to reach Hart for comment.
