CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation, (TDOT), held a public meeting Thursday, April 3 at Rossview Middle School in Clarksville to talk about right-of-way acquisition and relocation procedures by the state for a section of State Route 237, Rossview Road.
Jim Williams with TDOT talked about the proposal for widening Rossview Road between International Boulevard and Powell Road in the area of Exit 8 on I-24. About 40 residents attended the meeting which mainly covered the aspects of acquiring land for the project.
“I want to talk about the appraisal process, the negotiation process and then the actual changing of the title and how it can leave your hands and come to the state of Tennessee,” said Williams.
During a brief question and answer period some residents asked about plans for the widening of a longer section of Rossview Road such as from Exit 8 to Warfield Boulevard and Williams said that is another project and no plans for that were available at the meeting.
After the meeting’s formal presentation ended, representatives from TDOT joined residents to look over plans for the project. If right-of-way acquisition and relocation moves smoothly, Williams said work could begin in October of this year with the project expected to be completed in June of 2016.
In a related subject, Clarksville City Councilwoman Deanna McLaughlin told Clarksvillenow.com the council voted Thursday at their regular session to accept a proposal from TDOT for improvements to Rossview Road to help provide a better roadway to serve the Hankook Tire plant set to be built in the nearby Industrial Park.
