The first- place prizes for the event include uniquely designed trophies crafted by TCAT students in Welding and Machine Tool Technology. The second-place winners will receive plaques and third place will receive coins crafted by the Machine Tool students. Mayor Joe Pitts will act as guest judge for the competition.
The event will include live music and vendors. CDE will be on site with a bucket truck, CPD’s K-9 unit will stop by and EMS will give ambulance tours.
All proceeds from the event will help TCAT students participating in state and national competitions, including lodging, travel and entry fees.
“The purpose is a fundraising event for the TCAT Dickson & Clarksville Campus chapter of Skills USA,” Technology Foundations Instructor and Skills USA advisor Deanna Wallace said. “The Car, Bike & Truck Show has helped to fund a portion of these expenses in the past, but we are hopeful this year’s event will be even bigger and better, replacing the need for additional fundraisers throughout the year.”
SkillsUSA is a nonprofit national association serving middle-school, high-school and college/postsecondary students and their teachers. It has more than 360,000 career and technical education (CTE) students and educators partnering with business and industry to ensure that America has a skilled workforce. The TCAT chapter sends students to competitions every year, participates in community service activities such as food drives, as well as organizing social events on campus.
The show has grown over the years, drawing 40-50 entries and raising $2,100 in its second year. This year, TCAT hopes to raise at least $5,000.
