CLARKSVILLE, TN – TCAT Dickson President Laura Travis conferred 60 diplomas and technical certificates for Clarksville campus graduates during fall commencement held Dec. 16 at Austin Peay State University.

Dr. Rashidah Leverett, Montgomery County Commissioner for District 5, served as guest speaker for the event.

Leverett addressed the graduates, “Right here in Middle Tennessee between Clarksville and Dickson we have industries that need you right now. We are creating pathways for you to grow professionally. You are part of a community. We in Montgomery County are intentional about creating pathways. We intentionally bring industries here to match your skills.”

“You are a graduate today. When you wake up tomorrow morning, you will be a professional. There is no sky that is limited to you. The more specialized you become, the more coins you are going to collect. The world needs you. TCAT graduates, as you walk across the stage, become a master with intention,” Leverett added.

Graduate William Herring of the Machine Tool Technology program was recognized for having perfect attendance during his enrollment.

Graduates receiving third party certifications were recognized. Those students were Jaden Smith from Building Construction Technology; Aiden Newberry, Williams Nuckolls, Edward Saucer, and Zane Sims from Diesel Powered Equipment Technology; Francisco Palacios and Cody Wilson from Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration; Heavan Gellineau, Rylie Hatfield, and Loralai Jones from Cosmetology; April Seefeldt and Kenia Simmons from Computer Information Technology; Landris “Doc” Brewer, Connor Edwards, William Herring, Jasper Miller, Charlie Moore II, Dexter Patrick, and Harrison Luke Wilson from Machine Tool Technology; Geovanni Castillo, Zaire Kennedy, and Ethan Constantin Nieto from Mechatronics Multicraft Tech; Allen Duncan, Elijah Reed, Miquel Grom, Reilly McElroy, and Adam Wood from Automotive Technology.

National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Inductees were applauded for their achievements. To be inducted into NTHS students must maintain an “A” average, attend at least 95 percent of their total program hours, and be nominated by their instructors. Graduates with the NTHS distinction were Jaden Smith – Building Construction Technology; Loralai Jones – Cosmetology; Kenia Simmons – Computer Information Technology; Tim Tolenoa – Industrial Electrical Maintenance / Mechatronics; Landris “Doc” Brewer and William Herring – Machine Tool Technology; Geovanni Castillo, Zaire Kennedy, and Ethan Constantin Nieto – Mechatronics Multicraft Tech; and Darren Finfrock – Welding Technology.

Graduates with the highest-grade point average in their respective career clusters were recognized as honorary banner bearers. They were Geovanni Castillo – National Technical Honor Society, Amelia Louise Theodore – SkillsUSA, Cody Wilson – Construction, JaMia White – Health Science, Rylie Hatfield – Human Services, Kenia Simmons – Information Technology, Ethan Constantin Nieto – Manufacturing, and Jackie Ross Jackson – Transportation.
