CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tarboosh Mediterranean Cuisine has had its liquor license suspended for six months by the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission effective Sept. 1, in part over violations of state and county orders involving COVID-19.
This is not Tarboosh’s first time experiencing difficulties with local orders. In a separate instance in June, the restaurant was cited for overcrowding when Clarksville Fire Rescue showed up for a surprise inspection.
“We had complaints that it was overcrowded. I’m the fire inspector, and I gave them the occupant load of 80. So it’s my job to go out there and make sure they’re adhering to all rules and regulations,” said CFR Capt. Michael Rios in a report by The Leaf-Chronicle.
According to the agreed order issued by TABC, Tarboosh violated the Gov. Bill Lee’s executive order No. 38, County Mayor Jim Durrett’s executive orders No. 9-13 as well as various TABC rules related to record-keeping and liquor sales.
The suspension will prevent Tarboosh from selling liquor or high gravity beer. Following the suspension, Tarboosh will be required to hire a security staff for weekend events where there is a DJ or door money is collected.
