CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery Central Indians hosted the Sycamore War Eagles for a district rematch on Friday. Despite a late rally from Central, Sycamore led the whole way, and earned a key district victory, 81-56.

Sycamore’s offense came out of the gates on fire, scoring 28 points in the first period. War Eagle forward Carter Wallace powered the scoring attack and led Sycamore with 18 points. Sycamore held a 42-26 lead at the half.

“Not a lot went right tonight for us,” said Central head coach Sam Young. “They came in here like they had a job to do, and they executed a lot better than we did.”

Central came alive in the third quarter and started to mount a rally. Christian Fox, who led all scorers with 25, hit some timely shots and cut the lead down to just 10 at the end of the third. However, the rally fell short in the fourth.

“We got kicked in the mouth early, and didn’t respond,” said Young. “They came out ready to play, I thought we were ready to play from the practices we had, but we just didn’t have it tonight.”
