CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery Central Indians hosted the Sycamore War Eagles for a district matchup on Friday. Sycamore started fast and led from wire to wire to earn a district win, 57-17.

Early on, the War Eagles were physical on the defensive end, and they weren’t allowing for any easy buckets. They turned that defense into offense and built a 33-11 lead at the halftime break. Guard Preslie Richards led the scoring with 14 points for Sycamore.

“We’ve got to eliminate unforced errors,” said Indians head coach Billy Youngquist. “Give credit to Sycamore, they’re one heck of a team.”

The Lady Indians were led by Maggie Ward with five points but could not mount a comeback in the second half. They have one week left in their season, and then the postseason begins, where records are thrown out the door.

“When we move the ball around, we’re good,” said Youngquist. “We can get decent looks; we just have to continue that. When we hit the floor, we have to continue to get better.”
