Fort Campbell, KY. – Fort Campbell welcomed home 195 soldiers Sunday, March 22 with the 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), “Lifeliners”. The soldiers were returning from Fort Bliss, Texas and 21 days of controlled monitoring following their five-month deployment to Liberia providing humanitarian support in the fight against the Ebola pandemic.

Fort Campbell’s commander returns home
Colonel Kimberly Daub, Commander of the brigade, talked about their mission. “It was really different because it was humanitarian assistance and so it was helping the government of Liberia. Everyone was excited for us to be there. It was really nice for people to be happy that we were there and you could see they appreciated all of the hard work we had done,” Daub said.
When asked what it felt like to be home Colonel Daub said, “I’m thrilled to be home and to be back from the mission. I’m really proud of our soldiers they did a fantastic job,” said Daub. The 101st Sustainment Brigade also uncased their colors which signifies the units return to Fort Campbell.
Around 115 soldiers with the 101st Sustainment Brigade and 86th Combat Support Hospital are scheduled to return to Fort Campbell Monday, March 23 from Fort Hood, Texas following their 21 day controlled monitoring and deployment to West Africa.
