Suspicious package found near Speaker Beth Harwell’s office

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Authorities are investigating a suspicious package found near Speaker Beth Harwell’s office in downtown Nashville late Thursday morning.

WKRN News 2 reports that fire crews responded to the scene at Sixth Avenue and Deadrick Street just before 10:30 a.m.

Sources told News 2 two staffers found the package, an envelope that was wrapped in plastic.

A portion of Legislative Plaza was evacuated.

No injuries were reported. Speaker Harwell was not at her office at the time.
